Flasks

English-Styled Leather Drinking Flask.

This genteel drinking vessell is made of 9-10 oz. English bridle leather,

and features a hand-turned maple or beech-wood spout and stopper, flax cord

stitching, and hand-braided flax-cord lanyard.

The spout and stopper are dyed with black walnut gall, and then

treble-sealed with a durable and food-safe walnut oil finish.  It is then

securely stitched into the leather body of the flask, and pegged in place

with hardwood shoemaker's pegs for additional strength.  Finally, the

interior is liberally coated with period-correct, food-safe brewer's pitch.

The end result is a magnificent, yet serviceable, piece.

French-Style "Pulverin" Powder Flask.

A most uncommon fine powder flask for an Autumn afternoon, spent taking

game birds on the wing.  The brass hardware includes a steel thumb-lever and

tempered steel spring to actuate the cutoff valve.  The flask's body is made

of 10 oz. English bridle leather.  10 oz. "Old World" harness leather is

also available, for a more "rustique" appearance.
